Spiritual Messages from Enlightened Minds

Poems for You

Spiritual Messages from Enlightened Minds

'As a mother would risk her life to protect her child, her only child, even so should one cultivate a limitless heart with regard to all beings. So with a boundless heart should one cherish all living beings; radiating kindness over the entire world.'

The Buddha About Compassion Sutta Nipata I, 8

Using Poetry as Spiritual Tool

We intuitively use Poetry to Heal or express Joy!

Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching, Chapter 2

'When the world knows beauty as beauty, ugliness arises
When it knows good as good, evil arises
Thus being and non-being produce each other
Difficult and easy bring about each other
Long and short reveal each other
High and low support each other
Music and voice harmonize each other
Front and back follow each other
Therefore the sages:
Manage the work of detached actions
Conduct the teaching of no words
They work with myriad things but do not control
They create but do not possess
They act but do not presume
They succeed but do not dwell on success
It is because they do not dwell on success
That it never goes away'

Bible, Mark, 12:30-31

'and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.' The second is this, 'YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.' There is no other commandment greater than these.'

A Gift from an Enlightened                                                                    NEXT POEM

I looked into his green eyes and saw

                                      An enlightened glow

He is one of a few - the Lady of Damascus Guard

                                                           Her faithful soldier

Taking care of Her for thousands of years

More than 90, he is intimate with life and death

                                               And us, the coincidental visitors

              Of his little secluded church

His hands sensitive, soft and loving

                                          Blessing us said:

Birds of anger, hate, and worries

Will always fly above your heads

That - you can not prevent

But what you can - is them nesting on your heads
